Half-Time Report: Sheffield United level against Fulham

Championship outfit Fulham are being held by League One side Sheffield United in their Capital One Cup second-round tie.

League One Sheffield United have reached half time in their Capital One Cup tie at Fulham on level terms, but both sides have had chances to go ahead at Craven Cottage.

Last year's semi-finalists were nearly ahead inside the opening five minutes when Martyn Woolford brought an early save out of Andy Lonergan.

Nigel Adkins's side were threatening the Cottagers goal again moments later when Harrison McGahey headed over from a corner.

However, Fulham went close to breaking the deadlock themselves on seven minutes when Alexander Kacaniklic fired a shot narrowly wide.

Kit Symons's side looked to be settling into their task and midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe managed to strike one beyond George Long, but saw his effort rattle the crossbar.

The hosts continued to create chances and another fell to Kacaniklic only for the Swede to see his shot stopped by the Blades keeper.

Moussa Dembele squandered another chance for the West London outfit, who were nearly punished at the other end when Diego De Girolamo failed to work Lonergan.

With the break approaching, Dembele again tried his luck from distance, but was unable to find a way past Long.
