Alan Curbishley is reportedly on stand-by to become Ipswich Town manager if Paul Jewell leaves the club this week.
Jewell admitted that he is considering his future at Portman Road following his side's last-gasp defeat to Hull City on Saturday.
Ipswich are in the midst of a torrid run of form, winning just once in their last 17 competitive matches.
Curbishley is in pole position to take the job if Jewell resigns, according to The Sun.
The former Charlton Athletic and West Ham United boss has been without a managerial post for more than four years following an acrimonious departure from Upton Park in September 2008.
