Italy coach Cesare Prandelli issues challenge to Mario Balotelli

Italy coach Cesare Prandelli challenges Mario Balotelli to make a positive impact at this summer's World Cup.

Italy coach Cesare Prandelli has challenged Mario Balotelli to make his mark at the World Cup.

The 23-year-old striker is expected to play a big part for the Azzurri out in Brazil as they battle with England, Uruguay and Costa Rica in Group D.

While doubts remain over Balotelli's temperament, Prandelli has urged him to have a positive impact at the tournament this summer.

"Balotelli is an important player for the national team, like a lot of others, but he must come to the World Cup fully prepared," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"He would do well to listen to his AC Milan manager Clarence Seedorf and channel the emotions he is feeling into something positive on the pitch. He knows the World Cup can be the opportunity of a lifetime for a footballer."

Italy get their World Cup campaign underway on June 14 when they play England in Manaus.
