FC Koln hold Augsburg to draw

Augsburg remain sixth in the Bundesliga despite playing out a goalless draw with FC Koln.

Augsburg have invited more pressure on their place in the Europa League qualifying spots after playing out a goalless draw with FC Koln.

Despite controlling the game for long periods, the Augsburg attack appeared sluggish for much of the game as Koln defended impressively.

In a first half which contained very few openings, Raul Bobadilla came closest to breaking the deadlock when he evaded a couple of challenges from the visiting defence before hitting an effort straight at Timo Horn.

It was a similar story after the break as Augsburg continued to push for a breakthrough, but a lack of quality in the final third of the pitch would prove to be key on a frustrating afternoon.

Tobias Werner created Augsburg's best opportunity of the match as he delivered a dangerous cross for Hong Jeong-Ho, who headed just wide of the post.

Hong threatened again in the closing stages when he met a corner with a powerful header, but Horn got a strong hand to the ball to ensure that Koln clinched a draw which keeps them six points above the Bundesliga's bottom three.
