Burnley's Connor Roberts is reportedly unlikely to remain at Leeds United past the conclusion of the term, with the Wales international currently on loan at Elland Road.

Burnley's Connor Roberts is reportedly not expected to remain at Leeds United past the conclusion of the 2023-24 campaign.

The 28-year-old is spending the second half of the season on loan at Elland Road, signing a temporary deal with the Whites during the January transfer window.

This came after Roberts endured a difficult spell at Burnley in the first section of the season, losing his place in the starting XI to Brazilian Vitinho.

The Wales international started just eight matches in the Premier League for Vincent Kompany's strugglers, playing a total of 819 top-flight minutes across 14 appearances.

Since swapping the Clarets for Daniel Farke's Whites, Roberts has feature eight times in the Championship, scoring once and providing one assist.

According to journalist Graeme Bailey via Leeds United News, the right-back is unlikely to remain at Elland Road ahead of the 2024-25 season.

The report claims that there is not an option to buy Roberts in the loan agreement between the top-flight Clarets and the second-tier Whites.

Despite enjoying his time since moving to Yorkshire, the Welshman has only started one match in the Championship - a 1-0 victory over Stoke City on March 5.

Roberts has been kept out of the team by 18-year-old Archie Gray, who has nailed down a spot in the right side of the backline despite naturally being a midfielder.

Farke's men have struggled for depth at right-back this season, with the Premier League chasers terminating Djed Spence's loan move from Tottenham Hotspur prematurely at the beginning of 2024.

Such issues have not prevented Leeds from enjoying a productive term to date, though, with the Yorkshire side currently top of the second-tier standings, ahead of Leicester City on goal difference.

Leeds do have a right-back currently on loan at Serie A giants Roma in the form of Rasmus Kristensen, whose Elland Road future is in serious doubt after he pushed for a move away following the Whites' relegation last May.

Following the first international break of the calendar year - in which Roberts and Wales are hoping to qualifying for Euro 2024 - Leeds will return to action with a trip to Watford on Good Friday.
