John Aldridge urges Liverpool to sell Raheem Sterling to Manchester City

Ex-Liverpool forward John Aldridge believes that selling Raheem Sterling to Manchester City would be a "win-win" for the Reds.

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge has told the Reds that they should cash in on Raheem Sterling this summer.

Sterling has turned down the offer of a new contract at Anfield and Premier League rivals Manchester City have since had two bids rejected for the England international.

Aldridge believes that selling Sterling would be a "win-win" for Liverpool as they have a readymade replacement in Jordon Ibe.

"Brendan Rodgers should let Raheem Sterling leave for Manchester City now," Aldridge wrote on Kicca. "The sooner he leaves the better for all involved. All this transfer talk is making a mockery of Liverpool Football Club.

"Raheem is obviously a hugely talented player but Liverpool have a top replacement in Jordon Ibe. I think he's got as much, if not more, potential than Raheem and will go on to be a better player."

Sterling, who has two years remaining on his current Liverpool contract, scored 10 goals for the Reds last term.
