The Football Association have announced that striker Daniel Sturridge will play no part in England's World Cup qualifier against Moldova on Friday due to injury.
The Three Lions camp had initially felt confident that the Liverpool forward would recover from a thigh problem to feature in the match, despite missing training earlier this week.
However, the governing body have confirmed that Sturridge has returned to Merseyside for treatment, but could reunite with the England squad this weekend ahead of their clash against Ukraine on Tuesday.
Manager Roy Hodgson already faces problems with regards to attacking options following Wayne Rooney's withdrawal due to a head injury he suffered during a training session with Manchester United.
