Manchester City winger Adam Johnson has said that he was "disappointed" to have been replaced by Gareth Barry after 38 minutes yesterday evening.
Manager Roberto Mancini opted to haul off the 24-year-old during the first half as he tried to get his side back into the match against Villarreal.
City eventually won the fixture 2-1 courtesy of a late goal from Sergio Aguero, a result that softened the blow for Johnson.
"Obviously disapointed to come off last night, these things happen was tactical," the England international wrote on Twitter. "Delighted with the win though! Thanks for all the support."
Johnson joined City in 2010 from Championship side Middlesbrough.
