Roberto Mancini says that winning the FA Cup is vital for Manchester City to salvage something from their season.

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has admitted that winning the FA Cup is a good way for his side to make up for the disappointment of losing the Premier League title to Manchester United.

Mancini said that although the league title is most important, winning any silverware is vital for any successful side.

"It is very important because it is a final, the second final in the last three years," Sky Sports News quotes Mancini as saying. "It is important for us and the club.

"When you start the season you want to win the best trophies and more every year but it is not always possible. To get to this final, we have had a good season but not like last season where we won the Premier League.

"I think it is the second trophy in England after the Premier League and an important trophy for everyone. It is a chance to get another Cup and we want to do a good job."

The final takes place on Saturday afternoon at 5.15pm.
