Manchester United may reportedly have to face Swiss side Young Boys in a neutral country as a result of the emergence of the Omicron coronavirus variant.

Manchester United may potentially have to play their final Champions League group fixture in a neutral country.

Having recorded a 2-0 victory in Villarreal last week, United have already booked their place in the last 16 of the competition ahead of next week's meeting with Young Boys.

However, according to The Telegraph, there is uncertainty over whether United will be able to stage the match at Old Trafford as scheduled.

The emergence of the Omicron coronavirus variant is leading to many countries changing their regulations regarding travel, some introducing mandatory quarantine periods.

The report claims that UEFA are currently awaiting to discover whether Young Boys will be required to quarantine for 10 days upon their return to Switzerland.

With the governing body wanting to ensure that the group stages are completed by next Wednesday, there is the potential for several matches to be played elsewhere at short notice.
