Manchester United interim head coach Ralf Rangnick has revealed that Fred will again be unavailable for selection against Chelsea on Thursday night.
Rangnick said last weekend that the Brazil international had a strong chance of being available for the fixture with the Blues at Old Trafford.
However, the 29-year-old admitted that he did not feel "fully fit" upon his return to training on Tuesday, so the central midfielder will again be absent against Thomas Tuchel's side.
"Fred is unfortunately not yet available," Ralf told reporters. "He tried to train yesterday but after training I had a long conversation with him and he just told me that he doesn't feel fully fit.
"He's not at 100%, and with a player like Fred who's always committed to give his very best, I don't think it makes sense, with the muscular injury that he had, to play him too early, because that would mean we take the risk of a re-injury and this is something that I don't want to do. So he won't be available unfortunately tomorrow."
Fred has already missed Man United's last three matches against Norwich City, Liverpool and Arsenal with the injury that he suffered against Everton on April 9.
The South American has been a key player for the Red Devils during the 2021-22 campaign, making 33 appearances in all competitions, contributing four goals and six assists.
