Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has said that Christian Eriksen remains a doubt for Wednesday's Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur.
The Denmark international was a notable absentee from the starting XI against Newcastle United on Sunday, while he was also not named on the bench.
Ahead of the contest with the Magpies, Ten Hag revealed that the summer arrival missed out through illness.
Man United ultimately failed to make the breakthrough against Eddie Howe's side, with Fred and Marcus Rashford both missing excellent chances for the home side.
Ten Hag said that his side "miss" Eriksen when he is not available, but the Dutchman could not confirm that the playmaker would be back for Wednesday's key fixture with Spurs at Old Trafford.

"We miss him when he's not available," Ten Hag told Viaplay. "But we have a squad and another 11 players on the pitch. So then we have to construct another team and we can bring players from the bench, who are all good.
"I can't tell [if he will face Spurs]. I know you're from Denmark, and want to know, and I want to express he's played fantastic, in this moment, for us. In our team, he really contributes to what we are at this moment. I don't know if he will be available for Wednesday but I hope [so], of course."
Eriksen made the move to Man United on a free transfer over the summer, signing a three-year contract with the English giants following his release from Brentford.
The 30-year-old, who played for Tottenham between 2013 and 2020, has been a vital player for the 20-time English champions this term, making 12 appearances in all competitions, contributing three assists in the process.
Eriksen's potential availability will be determined by how he recovers over the next couple of days, with the team currently preparing to welcome Antonio Conte's side to Old Trafford.

Ten Hag also said ahead of the clash with Newcastle that Rashford was "under the weather", but the Englishman was able to feature as a late substitute in the goalless draw.
Scott McTominay is expected to be back in the squad for the game with Spurs, having been unavailable for selection against Newcastle through suspension.
Martin Dubravka should also return, with the stopper ineligible against his parent club on Sunday, but Harry Maguire, Donny van de Beek, Brandon Williams and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will again miss out through injury.
Anthony Martial was not able to feature against Newcastle due to the back problem that he suffered against Everton last weekend, but the Frenchman has a chance of being back in the squad against Conte's side.
Man United are currently fifth in the Premier League table, seven points behind third-placed Tottenham, although the North London club have played a game more.
