Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has said that the club are "still doing investigations" to determine the extent of Donny van de Beek's knee injury.
The 25-year-old had to be substituted in just his second Premier League start of the season against Bournemouth on Tuesday, having suffered a serious-looking injury following a challenge from Marcos Senesi.
After the 3-0 win over the Cherries, Ten Hag admitted that he was fearful over the seriousness of the issue.
"No, that is too quick. We have to wait and then you can make the right diagnosis, so the medical team have to do their work. But it doesn't look great," Ten Hag told MUTV on Tuesday night.
"What has happened to Donny is bad, in the first place, for Donny but also bad news for Manchester United, if it is a bad injury."

Ten Hag was again asked about the Netherlands international on Thursday, and the Man United head coach said that the club were yet to fully establish the nature of the problem.
"Not yet. We are still doing investigations. Once we have it, once we finalise this process, we will bring an update," the Dutchman told MUTV.
Van de Beek, who has made 10 appearances for the Red Devils this season, will definitely be out of Friday's FA Cup third-round contest with Everton.
However, Anthony Martial has been declared fit despite picking up a knock against Bournemouth, which led to him being withdrawn in the second half of the contest.

"He's available but it's different. He came off but he didn't play that much in the first half of the season so we have to bring him slowly back into 90 minutes," Ten Hag added.
"He can play 90 minutes but [if we're playing him] in a row of games we have to protect him so he can have the strength, the power to deliver over 90 minutes, every third day."
Antony missed out against Bournemouth due to injury, but the Brazil international has since been pictured back in training, suggesting that he will be available for the contest.
"We have so many games to cover," said Ten Hag. "Sometimes we will rotate but also have a look at the opponents we will face.
"Tactical-wise, we can pick teams but definitely we also look to the physical load and the mental load for the players in the squad and the games we have to face."
Man United will again definitely be without the services of Axel Tuanzebe on Friday, while Jadon Sancho is a major doubt, with the attacker recently undergoing an individual training programme.
