Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane paid tribute to the Red Devils for their performance in Saturday's Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium.
Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial were on the scoresheet as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side recorded a 2-1 win over Manchester City in the late kickoff.
Speaking after the match, Keane hailed "a proper Manchester United performance" as the 20-time English champions moved into fifth position in the Premier League table.
"I absolutely did not see this coming. It was fantastic - a proper Manchester United performance. Lots of bravery and personality. They were outstanding," he told Sky Sports News.
"I don't think beating Tottenham [Hotspur] was a big deal at home, but that win today will give the players a lot of confidence as they have been criticised - nobody likes to be criticised.
"But hats off to Manchester United, whatever happens in January with the speculation, question marks over Ole, they were outstanding. This was a Manchester United performance."
Back-to-back wins over Tottenham and City have left United just five points off fourth-placed Chelsea on the same number of matches.
