Manchester United vs. Bournemouth match rescheduled for Tuesday

Manchester United's abandoned Premier League clash with Bournemouth is rescheduled for Tuesday, May 17 at 8pm.

Manchester United's abandoned Premier League clash with Bournemouth has been rescheduled for Tuesday, May 17 at 8pm.

The two sides were due to finish their season at Old Trafford this afternoon, but a security scare over a suspicious package forced the match to be called off.

Bomb disposal experts carried out a controlled explosion on the package, although it was later confirmed as a hoax.

The Premier League have now announced that the match will be played on Tuesday night instead, just four days before Manchester United are due to play Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

"We can confirm that today's abandoned fixture between Manchester United and AFC Bournemouth will be played on Tuesday 17 May at 8pm," read a statement from the Premier League.

"We would like to thank Manchester United's staff, the police and other emergency services for all their efforts today as well as rearranging the match for this coming Tuesday.

"Both Manchester United and AFC Bournemouth's management has been extremely helpful."

Manchester United simply need to avoid defeat against the Cherries to finish fifth in the Premier League.
