Jose Mourinho pays tribute to Ander Herrera

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho hails Ander Herrera for showing a 'phenomenal attitude" in the second half of Saturday's Manchester derby.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has praised Ander Herrera for showing a 'phenomenal attitude" in the second half of Saturday's Manchester derby at Old Trafford.

Mourinho tasted his first defeat as Red Devils boss at the weekend as first-half goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Kelechi Iheanacho proved enough for Manchester City to collect all the points.

Herrera was introduced at the interval of the derby and the Spaniard could now be heading for a run in the team after Mourinho paid tribute to the midfielder's performance during the second period.

"Ander Herrera came on in the second half and he was the one who allowed us to recover the ball fast, to press higher, to bring the team higher, to recover the ball, to build a new wave of attack, to put another long ball into the last line. Ander was phenomenal in his attitude," Mourinho told reporters.

Man United will kick off their Europa League campaign away to Dutch side Feyenoord on Thursday night.
