Former Manchester United goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak tells Sports Mole that the Red Devils need to address their consistency problems in order to thrive under Ruben Amorim.

Former Manchester United goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak has told Sports Mole that the Red Devils need to address their inconsistency in order to succeed under Ruben Amorim.

The Portuguese coach has taken charge of 12 matches across all competitions for the 20-time English champions so far, during which time fans have witnessed a wide variety of performances.

Man United fought valiantly at Anfield and the Etihad to earn results against Liverpool and Manchester City recently, although those matches have sandwiched damaging clashes versus Bournemouth and Newcastle United at Old Trafford, with Kuszczak explaining to Sports Mole a possible cause of the issue.

"To be honest, inconsistency, maybe a little bit. I don't want to joke too much but at the moment they're very consistent at losing games. This is the only consistency we can see," former Red Devil Kuszczak told Sports Mole.

"I see the squad for the last couple of games and the tactic and the players are the same, most of the players play the same positions and the last game was against a very strong side, Liverpool, which we know from the last couple of years how those games end with different managers, big defeats, home and away, it's just shocking, 5-0 and 7-0 losses and not knowing why it is happening but the last game against Liverpool was good."

Amorim brings Man United consistency on the sidelines but players need to follow suit

As alluded to by Kuszczak, Man United have lined up in a consistent shape since the arrival of Amorim in the middle of November, with the Old Trafford club switching to a 3-4-3 setup.

The 39-year-old boss has already laid out his refusal to divert from his philosophy during the early days, despite a more pragmatic approach having the potential to assist the Red Devils to positive results on a regular basis.

Discussing the effectiveness of Amorim's style so far with Sports Mole, Kuszczak said: "The tactic which didn't really bring a good result in the previous games against Newcastle or Wolverhampton Wanderers started to work quite well [against Liverpool].

"If we look at this season for United and the Manchester City performance, we knew City was in big trouble, now they're getting better, they were struggling as well and nobody knew why.

"Obviously, it's not easy to go [to Man City] and win the game, United did that and they go to Anfield with the form which Liverpool are in and almost win the game. That was very difficult to do anyway over the course of the last 15, 20 years. It's always difficult to win against Liverpool."

Man United, Amorim chasing the "best feeling ever"

With Man United showing glimpses of being able to compete at the top level of English football under Amorim, there is hope that the former Sporting Lisbon man will be the first manager since Sir Alex Ferguson to enjoy serious success at the club.

Lifting three Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy during his six-year stint at the club, shot-stopper Kuszczak knows all about winning environments, with the 42-year-old praying for a swift revival on the red side of Manchester.

That being said, the road back to the top is likely to be complicated, and Kuszczak told Sports Mole: "I can't give any advice. I wish them all the best and fingers crossed.

"I know how good it feels to win games and be around the United fans and the Old Trafford spirit and everything. This is the best feeling ever."

Sitting 13th in the Premier League standings, Man United will take a momentary break from their league struggles as they travel to Arsenal for an FA Cup third-round clash on Sunday afternoon.

Tomasz Kuszczak was talking to Sports Mole on behalf of sports betting site 888sport.
