Agent: 'Radamel Falcao's Manchester United future uncertain'

The agent of Colombian striker Radamel Falcao hints that his client's future may lie away from Manchester United.

Radamel Falcao's agent Jorge Mendes has conceded that the striker's future at Manchester United is unclear.

The Colombian joined the Red Devils on a season-long loan deal from Monaco during the summer.

Reports in recent weeks had suggested that Louis van Gaal was keen to sign the 28-year-old on a permanent basis, but his omission from the squad for Sunday's 1-0 loss at home to Southampton has thrown the situation into doubt.

The player is said to have been shocked by Van Gaal's decision to drop him, with unconfirmed reports having claimed that he stormed away from Old Trafford before the match got underway.

When asked for his take on the situation at the FIFA Ballon d'Or gala in Zurich yesterday evening, Mendes stressed that his client would be at "one of the very best clubs in the world next season", although he refused to confirm if the club in question would be United.

"He is a fantastic player and I think it's very difficult for Manchester United fans. They have an absolutely brilliant player, one of the very best in the world, who would without any doubt play 90 minutes of the match, every time, with any other club," Mendes told Sky Sport Italia.

"The truth is, right now we don't know what will happen. What we do know is that he will play in one of the very best clubs in the world next season, whether that is Manchester United or not. I am 100% sure of that. But you know how football works. We need to wait a little."

Falcao has scored three goals in 13 appearances for United this term.
