Ajax are reportedly planning to use the funds raised by Donny van de Beek's imminent move to Manchester United on signing Barcelona striker Luis Suarez.
Van de Beek is set to join United in a deal worth a reported €40m (£35.6m), having agreed terms on a five-year contract at Old Trafford.
Spanish outlet Sport report that the Dutch outfit plan to reinvest that money on bringing Suarez back to the club from Barcelona.
The 33-year-old has been told that he has no future at Camp Nou under new boss Ronald Koeman, and Ajax technical director Marc Overmars is keen to re-sign the Uruguayan.
Suarez spent three-and-a-half years with Ajax from 2007 to 2011, scoring 111 goals in 159 games for the club before joining Liverpool.
However, the Dutch outfit's hopes of bringing him back to Amsterdam could be scuppered by Juventus, who are rumoured to have already agreed personal terms with the striker.
Suarez is attempting to cancel his contract at Camp Nou, although doing so could cost Barcelona around £12m.
