Lazio are reportedly preparing to offer Serbian midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic a new and improved contract at the Stadio Olimpico.
The 24-year-old has scored 31 times in 163 appearances for Lazio since a 2015 arrival from Genk - including 14 goals in all competitions during an impressive 2017-18 campaign.
Manchester United were linked with a possible move for the midfielder before the English transfer window closed earlier this month.
Milinkovic-Savic remained with Lazio, though, and according to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian giants are keen to hand him a new deal until the summer of 2024, which would include a salary rise.
United did not sign a new central midfielder during the summer despite losing Marouane Fellaini in January and Ander Herrera at the end of the 2019-20 campaign.
Scott McTominay has benefited to start the season as Paul Pogba's preferred partner, although Brazil international Fred is reportedly preparing to undergo extra fitness sessions in order to force his way into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's starting team.
