Sporting director Markus Krosche has acknowledged that RB Leipzig have made an approach for Red Bull Salzburg forward Erling Braut Haaland.
After starring in the Champions League this season, the 19-year-old is wanted by a number of top European clubs ahead of the January transfer window.
Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund are currently regarded as the two favourites to push through a deal for the Norway international.
However, Krosche has revealed that Leipzig, who are owned by the same company as Salzburg, have moved to sign the prospect.
Krosche told Kicker: "We have shown what we can offer him and which part he could play in our team. It's now up to him."
Leipzig currently sit at the top of the Bundesliga standings, two points above Borussia Monchengladbach and six ahead of champions Bayern Munich.
