Manchester United were reportedly unable to agree a swap deal with Juventus that would have seen Donny van de Beek and Weston McKennie move in opposite directions.

Manchester United reportedly failed in their attempt to swap Donny van de Beek for Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie.

The entire Juventus board recently resigned amid an investigation by police relating into charges relating to false accounting and market manipulation

According to The Sun, Juventus directors were subjected to wiretaps for over a year, and evidence retrieved from the investigation suggested that Man United tried to negotiate a swap deal involving Van de Beek.

The report claims that the Red Devils looked into the possibility of swapping the Dutchman with McKennie in August 2021, but the move did not go through.

Van de Beek has struggled to nail down a starting place since arriving from Ajax in September 2020, and there was hope that they he could establish himself at Old Trafford following the appointment of his former boss Erik ten Hag, but due to injuries and selection decisions, he has only started three competitive games this season.

The 25-year-old is believed to be attracting interest from Tottenham Hotspur, who could attempt to sign him during the January transfer window.
