Montpellier HSC have confirmed that midfielder Remy Cabella will join Newcastle United, but not in this transfer window.
The Magpies are keen to add the 23-year-old, who has scored six goals in 19 Ligue 1 appearances this season, to the large contingent of French players already at St James' Park.
Cabella's father claimed last week that a deal was close to being agreed, and Montpellier chairman Laurent Nicollin has now revealed that the move is poised to go ahead at the end of the season.
"We have an agreement with the leaders of Newcastle that I will not reveal," Nicollin told Midi Libre.
"But it does not include a departure for Remy before June, it is a certainty."
Cabella is reportedly valued at around £15m.
