Steven Taylor: 'We have to make amends against Manchester United'

Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor is adamant that his side have to make things right following their loss to Sunderland against Manchester United in their next outing.

Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor feels that his side have to atone for their Tyne-Wear derby loss to Sunderland in their match against Manchester United.

The Magpies lost to their bitter rivals for the fourth time in a row to cap a miserable week for Alan Pardew's men, as they also tasted defeat against Arsenal in the Premier League and Tottenham Hotspur in their Capital One Cup quarter-final.

Taylor told reporters: "The lads are hurting and the fans are hurting, but we have to put it right at Manchester United. We can't dwell on it.

"It's going to be difficult with the players they have like [Wayne] Rooney, [Robin] Van Persie, [Angel] Di Maria. They have top-class players all over the pitch, but we will give it our best.

"We will need everyone putting their bodies on the line and hopefully redeem this. We can recover. It will be tough, but we have proved we can do it against the big boys. We have to get over this and move on. Hopefully it can be a turning point for us."

Pardew's side are ninth in the Premier League going into their match on Boxing Day.
