David Beckham starts on the bench for Paris Saint-Germain against Valencia at the Parc des Princes.

David Beckham has failed to claim a place in the Paris Saint-Germain starting lineup for this evening's Champions League encounter against Valencia.

Reports had tipped the former England captain to be handed an opportunity, but coach Carlo Ancelotti has opted to give Thiago Motta, Blaise Matuidi and Clement Chantome the three midfield roles.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Mathieu with Victor Ruiz will begin the match as centre-backs for the visiting Spaniards, who trail 2-1 from the opening leg.

PSG: Sirigu; Jallet, Alex, Silva, Maxwell; Matuidi, Motta, Chantome; Lucas, Pastore; Lavezzi

Valencia: Guaita; Barragan, Ruiz, Mathieu, Cissokho; Albelda, T Costa; Feghouli, Parejo, Jonas; Soldado
