Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino has revealed that Lionel Messi trained individually on Thursday due to a muscular problem.
The 34-year-old has endured a mixed start to life at the Parc des Princes, scoring three goals in the Champions League but failing to register in four Ligue 1 appearances.
Messi played the full 90 minutes in the weekend's goalless stalemate with Marseille in Le Classique, but Pochettino has now revealed that the attacker is doubtful for the visit of the champions.
Speaking to reporters at his pre-match press conference, Pochettino said: "After the match against Marseille, he trained normally. Today [Thursday], he had a muscle issue, he had an individual training session. We'll see tomorrow if he can be ready [for the match]."
Messi's failure to score or assist in his first four league appearances of the season has seen him register his worst start to a domestic campaign for 16 years, and Les Parisiens are also set to be without Leandro Paredes, Sergio Ramos, Marco Verratti and Kylian Mbappe on Friday.
