Former Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi training with Reading

Reading reveal that former Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi is training with them ahead of a possible move to Berkshire.

Former Wigan Athletic stopper Ali Al-Habsi has started training with Championship side Reading.

Al-Habsi, 33, is working with new Royals goalkeeping coach Dave Beasant in the hope of joining the Berkshire side permanently.

The Omani international is a free agent after being released by Wigan this summer following five years at the club.

Reading lost their first-choice keeper this summer when Adam Federici was snapped up by newly-promoted Premier League side Bournemouth.
