Real Madrid narrowly got the better of Santos Laguna to win 2-1 in the World Football Challenge encounter between the two sides at the Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas on Sunday.
Xabi Alonso gave Jose Mourinho's side the lead after just 14 minutes with a brilliant strike from 30 yards, but Santos restored parity 11 minutes later through Cristian Suarez.
The scoreline remained 1-1 until the 72nd minute when Sami Khedira found the target for Madrid under rather fortuitous circumstances.
Karim Benzema's shot from a corner was parried by Santos goalkeeper Oswaldo Sanchez into his six-yard area, but it bounced right back into the net off the face of Khedira.
Madrid's next game on their pre-season tour of the USA is on Thursday against Italian giants AC Milan.
