Nice hold Rennes to goalless draw

Foued Kadir wasted a superb chance for Rennes in the opening minutes of the game when he skied his effort over after being picked out by Julien Feret.

Nelson Oliveira looked the most creative of the Rennes players and found Kadir midway through the first half, but the striker saw his shot saved in the centre of goal.

Kadir had his head in his hands again as he spurned a great opportunity to give the hosts the lead when he missed a penalty in the 30th minute.

Nice then wasted a great chance by missing a penalty of their own when Dario Cvitanich shoveled his effort over the crossbar in the 50th minute.

Jean Makoun might have won it late on for Rennes when he was found by the enterprising Oliveira, but his last-ditch effort was kept out by the commanding David Ospina, who ensured that his side earned a vital point on their travels.
