Roma stunned by Cagliari

Roma slip to a surprise 4-2 defeat at home to struggling Cagliari in Serie A.

Roma have slumped to a surprise 4-2 defeat at home to struggling Cagliari Calcio in Serie A.

The win has moved Cagliari four points clear of the relegation zone, while Roma stay in eighth place.

Radja Nainggolan gave the visitors an early lead before Francesco Totti made sure that the sides were level at the break with his opportunistic free kick.

However, Cagliari were back in front soon after the restart when Roma goalkeeper Mauro Goicoechea's failure to hold a cross resulted in the ball going into his own net.

The away side struck again on 53 minutes through Marco Sau's header and a dominant display was capped with 20 minutes left on the clock as Francesco Pisano converted the rebound after Thiago Ribeiro's shot had hit the post.

Roma pulled one goal back late on through Marquinho, but it was not enough for Zdenek Zeman's side.
