Southampton lead race for Eibar midfielder Dani Garcia?

Southampton are reportedly in contention to sign Eibar midfielder Dani Garcia during the January transfer window.

Eibar midfielder Dani Garcia is reportedly attracting attention from Southampton.

Garcia has enjoyed a productive campaign this season, with 13 starts being made in La Liga and Eibar sitting close to mid-table in Spain's top flight.

However, Garcia has just over six months remaining on his current contract and it appears that he is prepared to take on a new challenge.

According to The Mirror, Southampton are leading the race for the 27-year-old's signature, with the player said to be keen on a switch to England.

The Saints are well stocked for players in the centre of the park, but Mauricio Pellegrino's team sit just four points clear of the relegation zone.

Athletic Bilbao, Malaga and Real Betis are also said to be interested in signing Garcia.
