Sports Mole previews the League Cup third-round clash between Carlisle United and Tottenham Hotspur at Brunton Park.

League One outfit Carlisle United welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Brunton Park in the third round of the League Cup on Wednesday.

Carlisle have enjoyed a solid start to their league campaign, winning at Coventry City on Saturday to extend their unbeaten run to four games.

Tottenham, meanwhile, picked up their first home win of the season against Queens Park Rangers on Sunday to move into eighth place in table, but will not take a competition, in which they have reached two finals in recent years, lightly.

Carlisle are expected to have Paul Thirlwell and Danny Livesey available for selection, but Joe Garner is cup-tied and therefore will not be included in the squad. The away side, meanwhile, are expected to make sweeping changes, but Hugo Lloris could start in goal.

Recent form:

Carlisle United: LLWDDW
Tottenham Hotspur: LDDWDW

Possible lineups:

Carlisle United: Collin; Edwards, Livesey, Noble, Chantler; Robson, Thirlwell, Berrett, Potts; Beck, Cadamarteri

Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris; Walker, Dawson, Caulker, Stewart; Townsend, Huddlestone, Dempsey, Falque; Defoe, Carroll

Sports Mole says: 1-3
