Clint Dempsey: 'Tottenham Hotspur can pip Manchester City to second'

Clint Dempsey says that Tottenham Hotspur will try to finish above Manchester City in the Premier League this season.

Tottenham Hotspur forward Clint Dempsey has sent out a signal of intent to Manchester City by insisting that his side will try to finish above them this season.

After a slow start to their campaign, Spurs have been in strong form of late, having endured just one defeat in their last nine matches.

The North London outfit currently sit third in the Premier League table, but Dempsey is adamant that they will try to finish above second-placed City.

"That's the goal," Dempsey said when asked if finishing second was a realistic target.

"Everybody wants to be pushing for great things and doing something special in their careers. We have the quality in our team and there's no reason why we shouldn't think that.

"We need to continue on this good run of form and get as many points as possible. You want to keep your feet on the ground and know there's a lot of hard work to put in if you want to accomplish your goals."

Spurs travel to Queens Park Rangers on Saturday in the Premier League.
