Former Arsenal forward Marc Overmars has said that Barcelona youngster Marc Muniesa wants to join Ajax on loan.
It is believed that the 20-year-old could fit in as a replacement for former captain Jan Vertonghen, who has joined Tottenham Hotspur.
"[Muniesa] wants to come here and is open to the possibility," Overmars, who now works as sporting director with Ajax, told De Telegraaf.
"Barcelona will talk to him on Tuesday and offer a new contract and once he has signed that he will be allowed to talk to Ajax.
"We will receive a call from Barcelona and I will be waiting for that."
Muniesa would join the Dutch champions on a season-long loan if the deal comes to fruition.
