Inter Milan are reportedly planning to rival their Serie A rivals Roma for the signature of Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Lewis Holtby in January.
The German international only moved to White Hart Lane from Schalke eight months ago, but has seen Spurs buy heavily in his position in their £108m summer spending spree.
Attacking midfielders Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela and Nacer Chadli have all arrived at Tottenham and seem to have leaped Holtby in the pecking order, leading to questions over the 22-year-old's future.
According to Italian publication CalcioMercato, Inter are ready to offer Spurs the chance to make a £4.5m profit on a player that they bought for just £2.5m halfway through last campaign.
Roma have also been linked with a bid for Holtby, who has insisted that he is ready to fight for his Lillywhites career after a pre-season plagued by injury worries.
