Sunderland will reportedly renew their interest in Norwich City forward Steven Naismith once the winter transfer window has opened at the start of 2017.
The Scottish international was strongly linked with the Stadium of Light on August 31, but the move is believed to have broken down after the 29-year-old failed to agree personal terms.
According to The Mirror, Black Cats boss David Moyes is still interested in bringing the experienced attacker to Sunderland and will launch a new bid at the start of the January transfer window.
Naismith, who scored once in 13 appearances for Norwich in the second half of last season after joining the Canaries from Everton, has netted once in five Championship matches this term.
