Sunderland have reportedly made a bid for Swansea City captain Ashley Williams.
Swansea manager Garry Monk said earlier this week that the club had opened contract talks with the central defender in an attempt to extend his stay at the club.
However, Sky Sports News reports that Gus Poyet's side have tabled a bid for the 29-year-old as he looks to shore up a Sunderland defence that conceded 60 goals last term.
Williams was part of the Wales side that lost 2-0 to the Netherlands in Amsterdam on Wednesday.
