Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Christophe Berra says that he needs a "new lease of life" at another club.

Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Christophe Berra has revealed that the lack of first-team football has forced him out the door at Molineux.

The 27-year-old has been open about his desire to leave the recently-relegated Championship club as he tries to secure a regular spot in the Scottish national side.

"A defender's peak years are between 28 and 32," said Berra. "I'm at the stage where I need to play first-team football week in, week out.

"I've got a year left on my contract at Molineux but I believe my future lies elsewhere. I feel as if I need a new lease of life and a change of scenery after three years in the Midlands.

"If it doesn't happen for me then I'll continue to give Wolves 100%. We've got a new manager and it doesn't feel as if I'm going to be a part of the club's future, so I need to move away because that will stand me in good stead where Scotland's concerned."

Berra will discover if he is part of the Scotland team next week when they play Australia in an international friendly.
