A strong start from both defences saw few scoring opportunities in the opening 15 minutes.

Owen Farrell broke the deadlock in the 25th minute with a penalty. The Saracens fly-half added two more penalties and a drop goal to give the home side a 12-0 lead at half-time.

Justin Savea got the All Blacks off the mark in the 47th minute, breaking off a number of tackles to score a try.

Kieran Read added a second for New Zealand just three minutes later, reducing England's lead to one point.

The home side responded to New Zealand's comeback with three tries in 10 minutes, Chris Ashton, Brad Barritt and Mani Tuilagi helping England open up an 18-point lead over the world champions.

Savea added a second in the closing minutes for a consolation for New Zealand.

The win gives England their second victory of the four-game series.
