Alloa Athletic sign Michael Chopra

Alloa Athletic sign former Newcastle United and Sunderland striker Michael Chopra on a short-term deal.

Scottish Championship side Alloa Athletic have signed former Newcastle United and Sunderland striker Michael Chopra until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old had been without a club following his departure from Indian Super League outfit Kerala Blasters.

Chopra last featured for a British team during the 2013-14 campaign when he played for Blackpool.

"Alloa Athletic today pulled off a fantastic signing coup in bringing Michael Chopra to the club, a player who has played at the highest level in the UEFA Champions League and the English Premiership," read a statement on Alloa's official website.

Alloa are back in action tonight when they travel to Rangers in the league.
