Half-Time Report: Arsenal in control against Marseille

Jack Wilshere's goal after just 30 seconds gives Arsenal the lead against Marseille at the interval.

Jack Wilshere's early goal has given Arsenal a 1-0 lead against Marseille in the Champions League this evening.

Wilshere scored after just 30 seconds when he was was afforded the freedom of the
entire right flank. The England international scampered into the area, cut back onto his favoured left foot and clipped a shot high into the corner.

Wilshere then set up Aaron Ramsey minutes later, but somehow the Wales international failed to beat Steve Mandanda with the goal at his mercy six yards out.

The French side recovered from their early setback, but Arsene Wenger's side maintained a measure of control throughout the half.

Ramsey won a fortunate penalty towards the end of the half when he was tripped outside the area, but Mesut Ozil missed the spot kick with a weak effort to Mandanda's right.
