Arsenal will clash with Bayern Munich in the Champions League last 16 following the draw in Nyon, Switzerland.
Manager Arsene Wenger was expecting to face a difficult draw after failing to top their group as a result of a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Rafael Benitez's Napoli last week.
The Gunners were placed in the hat with Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona all being possible opponents, but it is the reigning champions that the North London outfit will have to beat over two legs in February and March in order to reach the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile, Manchester City have been dealt a tough draw as they will go up against Barcelona, while Manchester United and Chelsea complete the English contingent with ties against Olympiacos and Galatasaray respectively.
