How Arsenal could line up against Molde

Sports Mole looks at how Arsenal could line up for Thursday's Europa League fixture against Molde..

Arsenal return to Europa League action on Thursday evening with an encounter against Molde at the Emirates Stadium.

The two sides head into their Group B fixture having each recorded victories over Dundalk and Rapid Vienna, edging them closer to qualification for the knockout stages.

With Aston Villa to come in the Premier League on Sunday night, Mikel Arteta is likely to make several alterations to his starting XI.

Here, Sports Mole predicts how the Gunners could line up for the meeting with the Norwegian outfit.

While Arteta will again rotate his squad, the starting XI is likely to be much stronger than the one which featured against Dundalk last week.

Bernd Leno is expected to get the nod over Runar Alex Runarsson between the sticks, while Gabriel Magalhaes should feature in defence if David Luiz fails to recover from a thigh injury.

The inclusion of one of the Brazilian players would allow Granit Xhaka to move back into midfield, potentially alongside the creative Dani Ceballos.

Although Joe Willock will be hopeful of another appearance in this competition, Arteta may value experience over youth for this game.

Nevertheless, Reiss Nelson could be provided with a rare start on one of the flanks, allowing Arteta to leave the likes of Bukayo Saka and Willian among the replacements.

Cedric Soares and Ainsley Maitland-Niles will almost certainly be preferred in the wing-back roles, with Shkodran Mustafi and Sead Kolasinac featuring in a back three.

Despite reaching the final stages of his recovery from a serious knee injury, Calum Chambers is unlikely to be risked before the international break.
