Unai Emery: 'Nacho Monreal back for Chelsea match'

Arsenal boss Unai Emery reveals that he will be able to call upon Nacho Monreal for Saturday's Premier League clash with Chelsea.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has revealed that he will be able to call upon the services of Spanish defender Nacho Monreal for Saturday's Premier League clash with Chelsea.

The absence of Monreal and Sead Kolasinac with knee injuries last weekend meant that Ainsley Maitland-Niles was pressed into action in the left-back spot for the fixture at the Emirates Stadium.

Maitland-Niles was forced off injured in the first half of Arsenal's 2-0 defeat, however, with what was later confirmed to be a fractured leg.

The 20-year-old is now facing up to two months on the sidelines, but Emery has said that Stephan Lichtsteiner, who replaced Maitland-Niles against City, and fit-again Monreal are his two options for the left-back spot.

"Lichtsteiner can play at left back but his position in the team is more at right back. This week Nacho Monreal is working every day, training every day with us. The two options we have now are Nacho Monreal and Lichtsteiner to continue in this position," Emery told reporters.

Monreal has made over 200 appearances for Arsenal since joining the club from Malaga in 2013.
