Emmanuel Adebayor says that he is aiming to score up to "five or six" goals against Arsenal.

Former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has said that he is aiming to score up to "five or six" goals for Tottenham when the two sides meet this weekend.

The Togo international has had a rough relationship with Gunners fans following his final season at the Emirates, which resulted in his much-criticised goal celebration after scoring against his former club at the Etihad Stadium in 2009.

The 27-year-old has insisted that he has since moved on, but is still looking to score as many as possible against his former club as the team travel to the Lane on Sunday.

"If I score I will enjoy it with my fans and with my teammates," he said. "I am a striker and have to score as many goals as I can this season. If I can get one, two, three, four, five or six against Arsenal, trust me I will do it and be happy to score.

"When I scored my first three goals with Tottenham, what I did was open my arms and tell my teammates to come in to me. Then I will say, 'Come on, we can score more'.

"We have to be ahead of them in the table so three points is important. If I get the chance to score on Sunday, that is what I am going to do."

Adebayor joined Tottenham on loan earlier this summer, after spending the second half of last season with Real Madrid.
