Emmanuel Adebayor admits that he was hurt by abusive chants during a recent match with Arsenal.

Emmanuel Adebayor has spoken out against chants directed at him during Tottenham's 2-1 victory over Arsenal last week.

Arsenal fans were accused of singing songs about the machine gun attack on the Togo national team last year, which left three of Adebayor's friends dead.

"The songs that they sung about me were very bad but was I surprised? No. Disappointed? Yes," Adebayor told The Sun.

"Obviously it was all meant to hurt me, to upset me, to anger me. But I am so glad I kept my dignity in the face of people behaving like that."

Both Spurs and Arsenal have promised to look in to the issue of abusive chants.
