Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers labelled the Anfield pitch "awful" after his side's 2-2 draw with Arsenal.
Martin Skrtel's header in stoppage time rescued a point for Liverpool, who were forced to finish the match with 10 men after Fabio Borini was sent off, and Rodgers was pleased with the performance on what he believed was a below-par playing surface.
"It was an outstanding performance, the quality of our passing and moving on a terrible pitch, the pitch is awful here," the Liverpool boss told Sky Sports News.
"But I thought the players put that to the side, and the passing, interchange and movement against a good side was fantastic.
"We thoroughly deserved to be at least one up in the first half, but we made bad decisions defensively."
Liverpool return to action against Burnley at Turf Moor on Boxing Day.
