Barcelona star Luis Suarez: 'I was right to snub Arsenal move'

Luis Suarez says that he made the right decision to snub Arsenal while he was at Liverpool.

Barcelona star Luis Suarez has claimed that he made the right call in rejecting a move to Arsenal in the summer of 2013.

While at Liverpool, the Uruguayan was the subject of a £40,000,001 bid from the North London outfit, who tried to trigger a release clause by including an additional pound.

Suarez considered the move, but opted to stay at Liverpool for another year before joining Barcelona for a reported £75m fee after the 2014 World Cup.

Since then, the prolific striker has won the Champions League, La Liga title and the Copa del Rey, and he has also scored 66 goals.

Tonight, Suarez will face Arsenal in the first leg of their last-16 clash in the Champions League at the Emirates.

In an interview with The Express, Suarez said: "It's inevitable that people will talk about them trying to sign me, with us facing them in Europe. They are a big club, but it would have been very difficult to play for any team other than Liverpool in England.

"Barcelona was the right choice for me. Yes I have won the treble in my first season, but also my family are very happy in the city. Barcelona was the only choice for me, life is good."

Since Suarez joined the Catalan giants, he, Lionel Messi and Neymar have scored 213 goals between them.
