Arsene Wenger: 'Arsenal have to bounce back at Leicester City'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists that he remains "strong enough" to continue doing things he feels will benefit the club in the long term.

Arsene Wenger has claimed he will continue to do all he can to ensure that Arsenal end their 13-year wait for the Premier League title, starting with a big response at Leicester City this weekend.

The Gunners, missing a handful of key players and without both of their first-choice centre-backs, fell to a 4-3 defeat at the hands of Liverpool in last Sunday's season opener.

Supporters have once more grown concerned by Wenger's lack of signings, which was only highlighted at the Emirates Stadium when conceding four times with Calum Chambers and Rob Holding in the heart of defence.

Wenger understands why fans are upset, but insists that he can help turn the Gunners' fortunes around over the duration of the campaign.

"Fans today are better informed, have stronger opinions. It's more difficult but you still have to be strong enough to do the things you feel are right," he told reporters.

"I focus on my job and do exactly 100% what I think is right. I think I have shown in 20 years that it does not work too badly. There are 55 games in a season and if after one game we cannot play good football then we cannot do our job.

"You have to bounce back. It makes perhaps more of an echo with [losing] the first game but it's still only one game."

Arsenal follow up their trip to champions Leicester with games against Watford and Southampton prior to the first international break of the season.
