Arsene Wenger has urged Arsenal fans not to boo Emmanuel Adebayor when the Gunners travel to White Hart Lane this weekend.

The 27-year-old will participate in his first North London derby as a Tottenham player on Sunday after leaving the Emirates for Manchester City in 2009.

The Togo international has had a tumultuous relationship with the Arsenal faithful ever since his final season with the club, but Wenger has told fans to "forget" about it.

"A football game is a fantastic day that everyone has to enjoy and with a positive atmosphere it is even more fantastic," he said.

"So to our fans, let's get behind our team and forget about the rest.

"Adebayor is a great player. I really don't know what went wrong. Of course I rate him. He can be a threat on Sunday."

Adebayor has enjoyed a successful return to life in the capital, scoring three goals in three league appearances so far.
